DMEK corneal transplants: optimising donor screening for graft survival
“I am happy to announce the publication of our latest article in the Journal of Ophthalmic & Vision Research:
I warmly thank my co-authors and colleagues for this collaboration: Dr Ammatul Takaza, Dr Mark Lane, Mr Azizur Rahman and Dr Alfonso Vasquez-Perez.
In this case series, we describe the presence of donor-implanted guttata within the corneal tissue after DMEK-type lamellar endothelial keratoplasty, highlighting the clinical signs, diagnostic difficulties and the potential impact on graft survival.
Our results highlight the importance of a more rigorous screening of donors with Fuchs endothelial dystrophy, especially in cases of unexplained postoperative oedema or early graft failure.”
